Elementary to Elementary School Project
In 2014, we connected an elementary school in Waterloo Region to an elementary school in Uganda. The students wrote back in forth to each other. When DSU went to Uganda in the fall of 2014, we took a package of letters from the Waterloo students along with their fundraising dollars. The Ugandan students had a package for us to bring back to Waterloo with letters and pictures they had drawn. Each year, we take money from the fundraising efforts of the Waterloo school to their Ugandan school partners. That money has enabled the school in Uganda to expand from a one room dilapidated structure to the multiple new buildings that they have today.
Our Waterloo school along with one of its families also initiated a special project of "Shoes for Kids". Just over 200 children ended up with a new pair of shoes - some for the first time.
Thank you to the two elementary schools that started this school partnership project. We encourage other schools to participate. Please contact us for more information.
