How Our Imagine Sponsorship Program Works
Our IMAGINE Program matches children living in desperate circumstances with sponsors who can provide for their basic needs. Your monthly donation provides financial support by way of food, shelter, education and medical care which helps students to reach their full potential and gives them opportunities for brighter futures. DSU workers visit Uganda once yearly and take a personal interest in knowing the needs of each child. This ensures that your support dollars have the utmost impact.
Your student is selected for you unless you have a gender preference. Our schools support children from elementary grades through high school. We know which students have the most urgent need of financial assistance. A short time after your student has been selected, you will receive a welcome letter with his or her photo and profile information.
"An investment in knowledge pays the best dividends."

What to Write About
You can write to your sponsored student by using information that you receive in the welcome letter/student profile. Writing is optional. But for sponsors who choose to write, the students really appreciate your letters and are encouraged by them. They are motivated by the personal interest that their sponsors take. Sometimes it’s difficult to know what to write about. Here are some suggestions:
Where you live and your community.
Your hobbies and interests (i.e. sports, music etc.)
Ask your student about their hobbies and interests.
Talk about your pets.
Do you have a garden? Many students are involved in growing crops.
Whenever possible, we send correspondence by email. This substantially lowers administration costs so that our students get the full benefit of your support dollars.
Gifts for Your Student
Often sponsors like to send gifts to their students, especially on their birthday or at Christmas. DSU respectfully requests that sponsors send monetary gifts instead of gift packages or purchased goods. Sending packages can be very expensive due to customs fees. We know what your student's need are and can buy something that best serves them. Monetary gifts also eliminate the risk of theft or loss.
We are happy to accept your cheque or credit card gift, should you choose to send one. We will see that the funds are transferred and goods purchased on your behalf by a DSU rep.
Please don't send gifts to our offices. Due to the costs of duty and the risk of theft or loss, we cannot forward it to your sponsored student. And please never send cash in the mail to DSU or to your sponsored student.
For questions or comments, please send your email correspondence to: Dreamshareuganda@gmail.ca or if you prefer, call one of our Imagine representatives at: 519-578-8113

What Happens When
My Student Graduates?
Once your student finishes the program, you will receive notification along with a profile of a new student to sponsor. If you don’t wish to transition to another student, please let us know. We hope that you will find this an invaluable program and that you’ll wish to continue supporting the dreams of a Ugandan child.
